‘KNOW ME’ is an awareness campaign by Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) of County Monaghan, exploring the challenges of discrimination and social exclusion in today’s society through the voices of those who experience it. In this ground breaking project, it challenged the viewer to get to know the people in your community, and not just the stereotype. Irish Equality law protects people from discrimination under ten grounds set out in The Equal Status Act. These grounds are age, gender, race, religion, sexuality, disability, family status, civil status and membership of the traveller community. Through a dynamic visual and verbal message, this publication and exhibition brought to life the prejudices, the discrimination and the voice of those who experience stereotyping. A concept that forced us to challenge our own view of equality.
